Båstad municipality is situated on a peninsula that is three-quarters surrounded by sea. With its corporate culture, business and highly developed tourist industries it has much to offer companies. Today, the municipality has approximately 14,300 inhabitants.
Business in the municipality is characterised by diversity, in terms of both size and direction. Here we have everything from large companies to a large number of micro-enterprises. There is a well-developed entrepreneurial spirit in the municipality.
The largest enterprises are Lindab, Peab, Nolato, NP Nilsson and hotel Skansen, each with 100 employees or more. All of these companies are based in the municipality, and the first three mentioned have, in just a few decades, grown into listed companies with thousands of employees around the country as well as internationally.
Båstad is at the top when it comes to establishing new businesses and is also in 7th place on the Swedish top 10 list, with 9.4 new enterprises per 1,000 inhabitants in 2010.
Båstad is perhaps best known for its Tennis week, but it is also generally an attractive tourist destination in generl and tourism accounts for much of the employment. With the E6 motorway passing through the municipality, Ängelholm/Helsingborg airport 20 minutes away by car and the Öresund commuter train, living here is very easy and convenient.
