Doing research in Southern Sweden
The region of Skåne and Blekinge offer many opportunities to conduct ground-breaking and innovative research. Research positions are generally advertised on university websites. Below you will also find more practical information about research studies and what is needed if you are planning on moving to Sweden as a researcher.
Euraxess Sweden is a portal containing information and assistance to researchers and their families when planning and organising a move to Sweden.
“Doktorandhandboken” is a guide, produced by the National Agency for Higher Education, aimed at people who are considering doctoral studies.
MAX IV
The MAX Laboratory is a national laboratory located in Lund and it is linked to Lund University. The facility supports three research areas: accelerator physics, research using synchrotron radiation and nuclear physics using high-energy electrons.
The MAX IV Laboratory, which has been operating since the mid-1980s, has been responsible for a number of advances in various fields of research including environmental science, life science and nano technology. The new MAX IV will be one of the most advanced synchrotron facilities in the world and offers the research community a new and very powerful tool. The MAX IV project was funded in April 2009 and the construction work at the site started November 22, 2010.

ESS
The European Spallation Source (ESS) will be a multi-disciplinary research centre based on the world’s most powerful neutron source. Researchers will be able to study a variety of materials, including plastic, proteins, motors and molecules, fossils and fuel cells, and thereby understand how they are structured and work.
The project is managed by the company ESS AB, owned jointly by the Swedish and Danish governments. Construction is expected to begin in 2013 and the first neutrons are expected to be produced in 2019.
